FT Dot Comment: (Tony Tassell): It seems the Obama charisma is waning with even his most ardent supporters. One of the more unlikely chapters of the presidential campaign was the rise of the Obama girl.

Amid the wave of hype and hope that drove the Illinois senator to the White House, a risqué video appeared on YouTube featuring a shapely but previously obscure model called Amber Lee Ettinger lip-synching a song called "I've Got a Crush on Obama", declaring her love for watching the man on C-Span.

It became a phenomenon, a viral hit in an election where the internet proved highly influential in generating support. The original video, produced by the barelypolitical.com website, has been watched 17m times, and another 100 or so videos followed.

It spawned a host of follow-on videos by the Obama girl and rival efforts by comely supporters of other political leaders such as the McCain girl. Disturbingly, there is also a not altogether serious version by a man declaring "I think I fancy Boris Johnson".

Mr Obama himself was less than pleased about the reaction of his children to the video. "You do wish people would think about what impact their actions have on kids and families," he told AP in a moment of sense of humour failure.

But Obama girl is retiring, she has told Politico. What might have been a four-year gig of producing successive videos under the Obama administration has been put aside as enthusiasm fades for the US president. Worse still, she has only given Mr Obama a B-minus mark for his first year in office.

As a tribulation for Mr Obama, it might not rank with the difficulties in passing healthcare reform. But it might just mark a small moment of disenchantment.

"Obama Girl, says she no longer has a "big crush" on Obama.

Amber Lee Ettinger said on Fox News that when the video's creative director Ben Relles approach her to appear in his video, Amber Lee Ettinger agreed to do it because she did have a crush on Obama then.

But Amber Lee Ettinger now says that her crush has faded.

"Yes, I mean, it was two years ago. If I had this crush on him the same way as I did in the beginning, I'd be the fool. You know, it's like a relationship. When you get into a relationship with somebody they're all great and perfect, they say all the right things," Amber Lee Ettinger, said on FOX. "And then once you're in the relationship it's like, OK, they're not that perfect."

Amber Lee Ettinger said she wasn't impressed with his State of the Union address he gave.

"I think it was a lot of recycled talk," she said. "People like -- talk is cheap; actions speak louder than words. And even with a relationship, you know, once people -- your boyfriend, girlfriend doesn't do what they say they're going to do, you kick them to the curb."

When asked if she would vote for President Obama today, Amber Lee Ettinger said, "Right now I can't say for sure."

Obama Girl Now for Huckabee?

Given an option between voting for Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee as president in 2012, Amber Lee Ettinger said on Fox she would choose former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

"He's the one that stood out to me, for some of the things he said when he was campaigning. He has great values. I like him, and I thought he was a good guy," Ettinger said to ABCnews.com in a phone interview.

But, Amber Lee Ettinger said, her infatuation with Obama wasn't completely gone.

"I graded him a B-minus, and I don't think that's that bad," she said.

Feb. 5--More than 2 years have passed since She appeared in an online political satire video as "Obama Girl."

Amber Lee Ettinger video, "Crush on Obama," received national attention that has yet to dissipate.

The Hazleton native was recently involved in a media blitz over Amber Lee Ettinger's dissatisfaction with some of the president's political moves. But she said it's still too early to say Obama has failed his supporters -- including his biggest online supporter, "Obama Girl."

Amber Lee Ettinger said the latest media attention was spurred after the New York Post interviewed her two days prior to Barack Obama's State of the Union address for comment on his first year in office. Her crush on Obama, the Post concluded, was over.

Since then, Amber Lee Ettinger has been interviewed by several major television media icons, including Sean Hannity on Fox News.

Amber Lee Ettinger gave Obama a B-minus for his performance over the past year in the interviews.

Amber Lee Ettinger said she wanted to clear up a few things that may have been misconceived by those critics, noting a B-minus may be a terrible grade to a perfectionist but too some it's not that terrible at all.

Although Ettinger never actually had a "crush" on the president, Amber Lee Ettinger said she was "infatuated" with the promises he made to the country on the campaign trail. Ettinger said Obama went back on his campaign promise to not hire lobbyists. And many people are upset with job-loss rates, national health care issues and the state of the country's economy, she said. Those issues all strike high emotions with the public, especially with those suffering through tough financial times, she said.

Ideally, Amber Lee Ettinger said, these issues would be resolved by now, but it has only been one year and Obama inherited many of these problems when he assumed office.

"It's hard to say how much progress he's made because it has only been one year," Amber Lee Ettinger said.

Obama should be giving the economy and jobs a harder look, Ettinger said.

Amber Lee Ettinger said that perhaps, like a lot of people, her hopes for Obama were too high.

When Ettinger agreed to star in the "Obama Girl" video more than two years ago, she said she believed in Obama's promise of "change" and will give him the benefit of the doubt.

The videos, she said, have over 200 million views online, opening up new avenues for her to pursue in her career. Ettinger has gotten serious about acting and being on television.

Amber Lee Ettinger has also started a jewelry company with her mother, Roseann, called Inspired by Amber and has a live chat show on her YouTube channel called 2girls2minutes. She also works with Next New Networks, an independent producer of online television networks.

What's your hometown and where do you live now?

Amber Lee Ettinger.. I am originally from Hazleton, PA but I moved around a lot, I'm an army brat, ya know how it is! I currently live right outside Manhattan.

What do you do from 9-5?

Everyday for me is different, I don't technically have a 9 to 5, and sometimes I work all day sometimes only a few hours. If I'm not at a photo shoot I'm auditioning or working on my website, things like that.

What do you do after that?

I always make time to eat! I love to eat! If I have more free time, I'm usually tired, so maybe I'll take a nap or go to dance class. I always have something to do, I'm never bored.

Have you had any creepy “casting couch” modeling experiences?

Yes, one time I had an audition for a br4 manufacturer and when I got the job I had to go in the showroom and try on br4s for an hour and “give my opinion” on how they felt….the guy was so cre3py he would try and touch the br4 to test how well it fit, I was like oh hell no and I bounced!

Ben Relles, who created the wildly popular “Crush on Obama” video (Amber Lee Ettinger as Obama Girl) for barelypolitical.com, conjectures that the secret of viral video is as timeless and enigmatic as the nature of rumor, the most potent of which were able to span the globe long before the Internet or even the telephone. And the calculus of viral video is similar to a chain letter, he said: If the number of people viewing a video exceeds the number of people sharing it, its growth eventually withers.

Relles had the idea for Obama Girl when he contacted a model named Amber Lee Ettinger in 2007 after seeing her on Howard Stern's TV show. He said he expected the video to be popular online - "It had humor, music, something very topical and, oh, yeah, girls" - but couldn't predict it would become an icon in a historic presidential campaign.

The major news and political shows all did segments about the video right after it aired on barelypolitical.com. Relles believes that was because it was a prime, early example of something the media had been anticipating: to show how YouTube had become a new, untamed force in American politics.

I tracked down some of the Internet's biggest overnight sensations to determine just how many were able to live past their "15 minute of fame" expiration date. Some have settled into lives of quiet but sustained popularity; others are now making grand livings off their Net-based notoriety. While becoming famous for being famous and turning self-promotion into an art form is often the stimulus, there are micro-celebs growing up all over the Internet who have a lot to offer.

Like it or not, we are all public figures ever since social networks such as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Flikr entered our lexicon. While some of us have attracted massive followings of hundreds of 1000s, others are perfectly content to run in smaller circles. So the old cliche' of being famous for fifteen minutes might now be defined as being famous for 15 people. "By actively keeping a blog and using Twitter and maintaining my social network profiles, I am shaping my image," says Ian Schafer, CEO of Deep Focus, an Internet marketing firm in New York and LA. "Maybe not for the general public, who couldn't care less, but for the 500 or so people who are listening and actively or passively paying attention."

My Top Ten Internet SuperStar list focuses on those that have used many of the Internet tools available to their utmost advantage. I monitored popularity based on pageviews, RSS subscriber feeds, followers, number of mutual connetions on multiple sites, retweets, Twitter trending topics, number of blog posts, attendance at social media events and sustainability over time. The the most recent entry into my Top Ten list just made it in under the wire. It appears that "American Idol" isn't the only launching pad for aspiring singers. Across the pond, "Britain's Got Talent" scored a huge boost in their ratings when an unassuming 47-year old contestant gave her first televised performance. On April 11, 2009 the Internet went abuzz internationally with a viral video on Youtube that to date has tallied over 2 million views and is climbing exponentially as we speak. Susan Boyle (remember that name) became a Web phenomenon after singing "I Dreamed a Dream" from the Broadway musical, Les Miserables. The performance brought the audience to its feet and left the judges (including Simon Cowell) in awe. What is unique about Ms. Boyle and testimony to the power of the Internet is she is a middle-aged matronly-looking woman who could have stepped out of a Charles Dickens novel. Luckily for us, Ms. Boyle who may have live a life of anonymity is now going to be able to share her rare gift with the world...in fact, she's already meeting with officials from Mr. Cowell's Sony BMG label. This may have be the first you've heard of her, but it certainly won't be the last. You can watch her stunning performance here...

Magibon (not her real name) was born in Florida, but presently resides in Pennsylvania. Before becoming a YouTube celebrity, she worked as a pharmacy checkout clerk. She learned to speak Japanese from watching Japanese television dramas and listening to their music. By October 2008, Magibon had uploaded over 60 videos onto her YouTube channel. Most of these clips are in the form of video blogs that exhibit her Mona Lisa smile. When asked whether she planned making the videos, she replied "I don't use scripts. There's no grand plan." In some of her videos, Magibon speaks or sings in Japanese. As of January 2009, Magibon leads the YouTube Japan's All Time Top Video list.

Amber Lee Ettinger (born October 2, 1982) is the Internet celebrity best known as "Obama Girl" in her online video "I Got a Crush... on Obama" — referring to U.S. Senator (now President) Barack Obama. Earning her massive media attention, she has since appeared in a comedy sketch on Saturday Night Live with Fred Armisen as Obama to an interview on Geraldo at Large with Geraldo Rivera and Bill O'Reilly's "The Factor." Beyond her Internet persona, Ettinger has launched a music career as well. However, staying true to her online roots, her first album, "Queen of the Web," will be made available only online. Ettinger's "I Got a Crush... on Obama" video was posted by Barely Political to YouTube in June 2007 and the video has caught on to the tune of 13 million viewers.

Andy Bumatai is an executive producer of Nighttime Productions, and produces and stars in his own Hawaii-based online talk show, "The Andy Bumatai Show". When I interviewed Andy most recently and asked why he switched to the Internet after a successful 30 year TV career, he was savvy to the power of the Internet: " I filmed shows on Social Media and being the Internet junkie that I am, I quickly realized that I owned what would amount to the best 'web cams' out there. So I ran the numbers and the cost savings alone was enough to sell me on an "Internet Only" talk show format. I realize that it will take a little time for sponsors to convert over but after many years in 'traditional' TV, the transition to the Internet was inevitable." With over 30,000 hits per month, its a slow build for Bumatai, but based on his talent, I think he's going to make a mark as an innovator in transitioning talk shows to the Internet.

Alejandro Reyes was selected as my Number 6 choice because of his passion and ability to generate excitement across social networks, most notably Twitter. While Marina exploits her blonde-bombshell looks to the max, appearing scantily-clad in her video clips, she is far from being an "air head". To the contrary, while being attractive is certainly an asset on the Internet, many would be hard pressed to compete with Ms. Orlova on an intellectual level. As her bio indicates, she received degrees in philology from the Nizhny Novgorod State University in 2002, and taught English and world literature to high school students in Moscow, before moving to the US. And as testimony to her online popularity, her video on the derivation of the word "HOOKER" has received over 3 million pageviews on YouTube.

Matthew "Matt" Harding (born September 27, 1976) is an American video game designer and Internet celeb. Known worldwide as "Dancing Matt," his viral videos show him gyrating in front of landmarks and famous international street scenes in various locales around the globe. As the story goes, Harding was known by his friends for a particular dance, and while videotaping in Vietnam, his travel companion suggested he add the dance to the videos...and voila'... the rest is history. Harding has since received widespread coverage of his travel exploits in major print and broadcast media outlets,and was hired by Visa to star in their Travel Happy campaign, proving that becoming Internet famous can lead to a lucrative career! His second video has been viewed over 20,297,423 times on YouTube,and is the product of 14 months'of traveling throughout 42 countries.

The press has said that "it's easy to dismiss Julia Allison as little more than a rank narcissist" — and many of her vocal online critics have agreed. However, in Wired Magazine's August 2008 cover story entitled: "Internet Famous: Julia Allison and the Secrets of Self-Promotion." details how she managed to storm the Internet with publicity stunts that have received widespread attention. Recently she invited handbag designer Mary Rambin and Randi Zuckerberg, the sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to dance in Jazzercise outfits in Times Square to Martha and the Vandellas' '"Dancing in the Street," which was filmed and documented by cameramen. Her new web sites juliaallison.com, itsmejulia.com, and juliajuliajulia.com — are dedicated to sharing almost every waking moment of Allison's life. Internet fame similar to other forms of fame, doesn't come without an emotional price tag, however. Ezarik is most notably known for her "300-page iPhone bill" video which followed the first month of service after the introduction of the iPhone in 2007. The viral video earned her international attention and celebrity.The bad publicity resulting for AT&T actually led the phone company to change their billing procedures for iPhone users.

My number one pick for Top Internet SuperStar is Nick Thune. A Seattle-born comedian now residing in LA. Nick is purusing the American dream in the entertainment field, which started online. Internet Celebrity is not lost on Nick Thune. He appreciates what it has done to help mold his persona and allow him to appeal to a sizeable and growing fan base. But when asked if he tracks his website traffic, Nick mockingly points out that he has “someone monitor his websites," as he doesn’t “wanna know numbers. I tell them to tell me if the numbers are low, and then I’ll put more work into it. Do you think Picasso knew how many people had or will have seen his work? Is anyone (really) keeping count?”

On his second appearance on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show in August 2007, Nick’s aptly named “Instant Messenger” stand up routine became an ‘instant’ success attracting millions of fans to this YouTube video clip...

NEW YORK, 12 FEBRUARY 2009 — "I got a crush on Obama Girl." That says a lot about ROFLcon, celebrating its first anniversary by holding ROFLThing NYC, a conference on the Culture of the Internet, (as contrasted with this publication’s diet of Culture discussed on the Internet). This conclave of geeks — featuring people who have developed Internet prominence for themselves or their creations, along with wannabes, will bes, and fellow travelers — came together in TriBeCa in a delightfully eccentric synergy on a Saturday afternoon so frigid that it must have left the poor coat check wondering why the fates conspired to force the participants to keep their coats on indoors.

There was Obama Girl, the lovely Amber Lee Ettinger, a former lingerie model who achieved great renown lip synching the song "I Got a Crush on Obama." It became quite a viral hit on YouTube, with millions of downloads, and has given substance to the website Barely Political, as well as a bit of a boost to President Obama in what has proved to be the most successful marketing campaign yet in the 21st Century.

On Amber, more to come, but first there is Ian Spector, Brown University senior, founder of a campy website with sophomoric humor (probably appropriately developed his sophomore year) addressing the mythology of Chuck Norris — the B actor with a lantern jaw and a martial arts facility — star of what has to be George Walker Bush’s favorite TV show, Walker, Texas Ranger . Ian wrote a bestseller about Norris and is also a symbol of young Internet entrepreneurs on the make. He spoke at last year’s first ROFLcon and networked at this conference, where he greeted me at the after party at a SoHo hookah bar where the traffic in tech ideas was thicker than the smoke. That’s part of the ROFLcon ethos, the earnest and fun spirit of "Hey, kids! We have a barn! We can all sing and dance! Let’s put on a show!" Everywhere an idea, a discussion, an air of anticipation that something new is about to come and an interest in being present at the creation.

There is Greg Marra, a student at Olin College in Massachusetts, the recently accredited specialized engineering college in the Cooper Union model. Greg might be typical of the atypical crowd at ROFLcon, the sort of student who chose to go to a new college you might never have heard because it had an idiosyncratic curriculum that appealed to his intellectual sense, someone who boasts of projects like an online video on robotics with over a million hits and a Google internship as an undergraduate. I suspect we will hear from him, too, because intelligence expressed with that kind of inner compass and the willingness to follow it is central to this geek world view.

We will hear from many of the people brought together through an enterprising recent graduate of Harvard, Tim Hwang, who works at Harvard’s Berkman Center for the Internet and Society. He demonstrates the wit of Internet culture with this ROFLThing NYC, packing the first ROFLcon last year in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a conference in San Francisco last summer, and sallying forth this year in Manhattan as the pied piper of geek culture. He creates these events for himself and his fellow travelers and comes to them for the same reason they come — the Internet is to them what an Oldies radio format was to an earlier generation, "the music of your life," and his innovation is to put out the welcome mat online and let the family come home for a visit.

The people who converged here would tell each other that we — yes, I include myself in this crowd — all get it. In this circumstance, "get it" means understanding the power and techniques of the Internet and not being afraid to be somewhat wacky in how we use this new medium, knowing that there are others who will get it even if we may seem alone pinging into cyberspace.

When I saw the room listening rapt to the concluding talk by Vince Connaire, the inventor of the Comic Sans Font discussing his creation entering ubiquity courtesy of his former employer, Microsoft, I knew that this conference is of a kind that would not have been possible but for the Internet. It came to my attention by a posting on Thrillist, a daily e-mail for self-selected hep people (presuming it is hip to be hep) in New York. And the conference maxed out early. A full house of people who attend something like this because the Internet can bring together a critical mass of any subset of a free society, in this case the folks who rooted for and identified with the Nerds.

That means geeks converge and listen to discussions of such things as comic fonts, or the twittering life of Sockington the cat (doubtless you’ve heard of him if you are a cat fancier, a Twitter fiend, or someone who knows what will be the obscure cultural footnotes of our era, what will become the touchstones we remember like we do Saturday Night Live’s now resurgent Mr. Bill circa 1980).

With the Internet, any group of any merit or lack of merit can self-select and self-define, good and bad, benign and malignant. None of us who crave community is ever alone anymore, even when before our screens in seeming privacy. In ROFLThing we see this geek community of those who love the Internet and the cool things (well, at least to those who think them cool) of this mouthpiece of pop culture — a love that is reborn with every posting by people with inexpensive virtual printing presses that disseminate whatever they wish to share with the rest of us in real time.

The proponents and creators of this pop culture are the people who see better living through technology the way some of their parents (grandparents?) once saw better living through chemistry. These are the people loosely coming together and coalescing to form the common culture of our age, as others once wrote dramas, or operas, or Broadway musicals that captured different moments as the popular culture of different eras.

Which brings me back to Obama Girl. The geeks used to be the smart kids who usually wore pocket protectors, browsed Radio Shack, and never got a wink from a girl like Amber, who would be a cheerleader off with the captain of the football team. High school is always unfair and part of us always dwells there.

Here, in this new era, Amber’s cameraman came up to me and introduced us, asking to interview me (apparently looking for a straight man, but did I care?) as her Web career moves from the world of politics to the world of the Internet and technology. When I said that I’d love to have a picture with her for my Facebook page, she graciously offered her own camera and e-mailed it, something I consider of a piece with a photo I once saw in an antique store of a man standing with Dagmar, a now-obscure pop sensation from the early years of TV.

In the world of the Internet, Amber is also a geek, and she knows it. She is part of this culture, celebrating it and being celebrated by it. She wasn’t radiating or receiving patronizing difference but consanguinity. And, at ROFLThing NYC, the geeks all came together, each to his or her role on self-defined terms proclaimed in the Internet’s culture of acceptance.

Even the cheerleader loves the geeks and has become one. Beauty is simply her eccentricity in a community of eccentricities finding common purpose, maximizing every individual’s moment of appearing on the Internet on their own individual terms, and matching them with those who will join in celebrating their moment.

I understand one might be ROFL that I can be serious about this. Too bad, because this is popular culture being created today by the young innovators of our time, both the vaunted and the vapid. In a real sense, they are just like precursors with Hair at the Public Theatre, the Beatles, or Andy Warhol in 1967, as well as lots of culture that withstands the test of time less well. Like that TV blonde of the Fifties you never heard of, Dagmar. LOL.

Were you a fan of Barack Obama when you created the "I've Got A Crush On Obama" ( Amber Lee Ettinger Video) video or was it strictly business?

Ben Relles: When we first did the video I thought it might help him and I thought he was a great candidate. After the first few videos we were acquired by an online television company called Next New Networks. Now we are able to produce consistent videos. It's also enabled us to build our team - which now includes people that support Obama and some who don't.

Amber Lee Ettinger: When I was first pitched the idea I liked it in part because I saw Obama on Oprah and was impressed by him. As the year went on I started to learn more about him. And by election night when he won I was kind of caught of guard and started crying and was just totally ecstatic like a lot of people.

Were there any videos that never were released?

Ben Relles: We had a few that were scrapped. There was an ObamaGirl15 series that spoofed LonelyGirl15 where Amber vlogged about him that was tossed out for being a little creepy. Same with To Catch a Political Predator.

Do you think you effected the election in any way?

Amber Lee Ettinger: Nah. I think online video affected the election. But I don't think me dancing to Obama songs impacted how people voted. I do get people telling me all the time the first time they heard of Obama was our video and I hope in some small way it helped Obama.

Ben Relles: When we did the first video Obama was trailing Hillary Clinton by a significant margin. Then it just started to become really clear that he was a frontrunner. Online video kept playing an increasingly important role. From democratizing the process by giving user generated videos like ours an audience to the candidates figuring out how to use online video to the thousands of clips that surfaced on YouTube and accompanied almost every major political story. I don't think our video substantially helped Obama, but I think it is part of the bigger story of how online video played was a part of this election in a way it never had been previously.

Any reactions from people along the way that really surprised you?

Amber Lee Ettinger: Bill O'Reilly interviewed me and said he liked what we were doing. That surprised me. And at the YouTube awards Will.i.am said he watches our videos. That was fun to hear.

Ben Relles: We met Karl Rove the other night here in DC. I heard he enjoyed it.

"He's pretty busy. I don't think I'm gonna meet him this week [but] maybe someday," Ettinger, 26, told PEOPLE during a pause in the festivities in Washington, D.C.

Obama Girl says. "I've met his campaign manager, and his chief speech writer," "And his chief speech writer told me they love the videos and they play them in the office. And I said, 'Oh, one day I'd love a note from him.' And he was like. 'Oh yeah, I'd probably be the one to write it.' And I was like, 'Aw, all right, not cool!' "

After more than 12 million hits on YouTube, the video has been reworked and trimmed for use as a TV commercial by the Republican Majority Campaign PAC.

3. Third, “I Got a Crush… On Obama” by Obama Girl

You know, Named best Web video of 2007 by People magazine, this is the viral video that launched dozens of imitators and made a star out of former Miss Howard Stern TV pageant winner Amber Lee Ettinger. Though the sequel with former Democratic candidate Mike Gravel was a bit sweeter and a little less sexy, it’s the old-school original that brings back memories of a more innocent time. Sure, the plucky banjos are annoying as hell, but this summer animation from the Spiridelli brothers — who go by the professional name JibJab — is not an altogether bad piece of political satire. Dylan’s “The Times They Are a-Changin’” gives it some heft, and the Disney-esque fantasyland featuring Obama riding a flying unicorn while repeating nonsense lyrics about “change” could be the most vicious put-down of the Democratic candidate this entire year, even if it does seem merely glib (and not a jab) upon first glance.

O'REILLY: So you're paid. You're paid to do what they want. They give you a script. They give you a song. You writhe around and you get paid. Right?

ETTINGER: I like to dance for candidates.

O'REILLY: OK. Dance for candidates, writhing, same thing for me. So then you get really famous. Then people like this and 12 million people come in and watch you do this. And now you can go out and do promotional appearances, sign pictures and do all that stuff, right?

ETTINGER: Yes.

O'REILLY: So this is basically — you have developed, along with the producer and the other people, an industry selling you, Amber, in the context of the presidential campaign.

ETTINGER: "Obama Girl" is definitely quite a character, and I think she was a part of this election. And I think that's why we made 30-plus "Obama Girl" videos since the first "Crush on Obama."

O'REILLY: Now, they marketed. Do people buy these videos?

Ettinger: No. They're free on YouTube.

O'REILLY: They're free. So you just download them and that's that?

ETTINGER: Yes.

O'REILLY: OK, so now it's over. And now you are famous in the Internet world. People know you. They know what you do. What do you do from here?

ETTINGER: Well, I'm going to still work for Barely Political.

Leah Kauffman was born on 1986. She is a Jewish-American singer who is responsible for singing and writing three popular viral videos: My Box in a Box, Amber Lee Ettinger.. I Got a Crush... on Obama and (Amber Lee Ettinger) Obama Girl vs. Giuliani Girl. The first song was written by Kauffman, the second and third were co-written by Kauffman and Ben Relles. Kauffman does not appear in the videos, instead actresses lip-synch to her vocals. This new video featured "Obamagirl" - Ettinger & 2 of her friends, played by Amina Sade & Sena Khoda, "debating" throughout the song with a trio of young women, Adelina Kristina, Ashley Beach (granddaughter of Republican Senator James Broyhill) & Rebecca DiPietro, who support Rudy Giuliani, by cavorting on the streets of New York City. A parody of a televised debate is featured, & supporters of other candidates make brief appearances (including a rather lonely Kucinich Girl).

* On July 2, 2007, songwriter-singer-actress Taryn Southern released the "Hott4Hill" viral video on YouTube. Clearly intended as an answer video for "I Got a Crush on Obama," it gained media attention for its more ambiguous s3xuality.

* In the middle of September 2007, a 3rd video was released, this time with U.S. soldiers being Obama Girl's crush. Her father spent 23 years in the military.

* In September 2007, Amber Lee Ettinger (Obama Girl) began working with Voter Vision, a multi-media political campaign marketing program, shooting videos used to demonstrate voter response to online and broadcast communications and offering up the Obama Girl video services to Voter Vision clientele. These Obama Girl/Voter Vision videos debuted at the Campaigns & Elections Conference in Washington D.C. on November 14, 2007.

* In late November 2007, a video was posted of Amber Lee Ettinger talking w/ Chad Vader.

* On January 2, 2008, a video was posted entitled "Obama Girl Returns for Iowa! (Why Obama Won)."

* On January 13, 2008, a youtube user "davedays" released a parody of the song called "I Got a Crush... On Hillary" in which he was announcing a crush for Hillary Clinton rather than Barack Obama.

* On January 31, 2008, a video was posted entitled "Obama Girl kills Osama Bin Laden?" In this video, Obama Girl appears on a faux news program discussing her personal mission in Pakistan to find Osama bin Laden.

* On February 2, 2008, a video was posted entitled "Super Obama Girl." This video is both notably less risqué than the original video and more campy in its narrative. The story begins with the intertitle "The nation needs a hero." Amber Lee, a reporter à la Clark Kent, has gotten super powers from her Obama tchotchke. Now a superheroine, she flies from battleground state to battleground state battling the Legion of Doom, i.e., Obama's political opponents and their henchmen, including Chuck Norris, in the cartoon fashion of the '60s Batman TV series. Among other feats, she literally carries Iowa, is responsible for Sen. * On May 7, 2008, a video was posted entitled "Mike Gravel Lobbies for the Obama Girl Vote." In this video, Mike Gravel lobbies Obama Girl to switch her support from Obama to him. Her response near the end of the video is, "I'll think about it."

* On May 22, 2008, Kirk Productions released the "McCAIN GIRL" video on YouTube. It imitates "I Got a Crush... On Obama" and "Hott4Hill", but features a girl with a crush on Republican Presidential candidate John McCain. It stars Olivia Daisy Wood with vocals by DaNica.

* On May 23, 2008, a video was released by the "McCain McCutie" on YouTube. It imitates "I Got a Crush... On Obama" and "Hott4Hill", but features yet another girl with a crush on Republican Presidential candidate John McCain. It is sung and stars Natalie Bannon.

So, did the Amber Lee Ettinger aka “Obama Girl” actually vote for Barack Obama?

Actually, no. Did you hear that?

On tuesday night, City Room ran into Ms. Amber Lee Ettinger at an election-watching party in Greenwich Village and asked how things went at the polls.

Ettinger said “I didn’t get a chance to vote today because I’m not registered to vote in New York,”

So where is Amber Lee Ettinger aka Obama Girl registered to vote?

“New Jersey.” Um, but didn’t New Jersey also hold a primary?

True. The problem, Amber Lee Ettinger explained, was that she was sick in New York City and was unable to get back across the Hudson River to the polls in Jersey City.

“I was in Arizona for the Super Bowl — every time I get in the airplane I get sick,” said Ms. Amber Lee, who did manage to make it to the Svedka Fembot election returns party at Chinatown Brasserie.

And how did she feel about missing the opportunity to cast her ballot for her one and only? “I’m a little upset but I really couldn’t help it today,” Ettinger said mournfully.

Well, Ettinger might get another chance in November. Or not.

Barack Obama had a brigade of Web denizens backing his election, from comedy star Obama Girl to throngs of young voters, and now they are clamoring for the Internet to play a big role in his presidency.

Model Amber Lee Ettinger alias Obama Girl, also became a YouTube star by appearing in comedy videos about Obama. This videos're seen more than 70 million times.

W/ all Amber Lee has done to lip-sync the praises of Obama, Ettinger, said she would like an invitation to his inauguration. And Ettinger said more online videos are forthcoming from Obama Girl and her comedy group, Barely Political.

"I definitely think we have four more years of good material to use, whatever's going on with him I'm sure we can come up with our own comedic spin to it," Amber Lee Ettinger said.

Ettinger, part of a comedy troupe called www.BarelyPolitical.com, slipped through the spin room with a cameraman filming a segment for the Web site. Some of the nation's top journalists quickly made their way to Ettinger, asked for a photo, then cozied up to Obama Girl while someone with a cell phone snapped a shot.

Amber Lee Ettinger has released a song, “Second Time,” on iTunes only days ahead of the Democratic National Convention in Denver, where U.S. Senator Barack Obama is expected to be nominated by his party as their presidential candidate.

Last year Amber Lee Ettinger, a former New York City fashion school student, gyrated her way across the Web lip-syncing “I Got a Crush … On Obama,” which heaped praise on the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. It also had tongue-in-cheek lyrics such as “you’re into border security/let’s break this border between you and me.”

The racy video went viral, received more than 9 million hits on YouTube, helped raise Obama’s profile in pop culture and made Ettinger a Web sensation. Cable television network E! put her No. 1 on their list of “Hottest Women on the Web,” and she made an appearance on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” as Obama Girl.

“Most people know me as the Obama Girl, and that’s only part of who I am,” Amber Lee Ettinger said in a statement. “Obama Girl is my character, and it’s both a part and a cause I love dearly, but Amber Lee, the singer, is completely separate,” Ettinger said.

Amber Lee Ettinger, Obama Girl made comedic videos about her favorite candidate for the 2008 elections.

It seems like the media have never been more involved with the elections then they are this year. In June, a video called “I Got a Crush . . . On Obama” was released on YouTube and has already had more than 9 million hits. Whose got a crush? A model actress fashion designer named Amber Lee Ettinger, but has adopted the nick-name “Obama Girl.”

The partly political, mostly satirical video has catchy, comedic lines like, “I cannot wait til’ 2008, Barack Obama, baby, you’re the best candidate.”

Then, the “Obama Girl” has other videos concerning her number one choice in the elections this year, as well as other comedic videos concerning politics. They are all featured on www.youtube.com/barelypolitical. Her most popular video, “I Got A Crush…” won 2007 video of the year by YouTube, AOL, Newsweek, People Magazine, the AP, Adrants, and Nerve.com.

When asked about this controversial video, Amber Lee Ettinger told Glam TV that the success of the video she made with the creator of “Barely Political” was a complete surprise. Ettinger also said the video took only six hours to shoot on the streets of New York. When asked if she thought the video had helped with Obama’s campaign, She responded that she’s not so sure it has helped him, but she’s happy that since many young people have watched the video, it may help voter turnout and excitement about politics.

Its all Hype, anyone with common sense knows that, but those lost in the hype dont see it, and it might be too late before they do. The media has helped played them as a fool, 70% of the media is Reps, they are giving Obama a free ride and spin, because they know McCain can beat the pants off Obama. IF and i am saying IF, Obama does beat Hillary, those lost in their hype are gonna get a rude awakening, then you will see the media throw out the dirt on Obama, and hammer the hell out of him. Mark my post, save it to favorites, and IF Obama beats Hillary out, lets meet back up and then tell me i dont know what I am talking about...lol Because I do, as well as others.

Amber Lee Ettinger was born on October 2, 1982. She is an American actress and model best known as Obama Girl in her online video "I Got a Crush... on Obama" — referring to 2008 presidential candidate Barack Obama — which has earned her scores of media appearances, from a part in a Saturday Night Live sketch with Fred Armisen as Obama to an interview on Geraldo at Large with Geraldo Rivera.

Amber Lee Ettinger is a native of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, She moved to New York City to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology to study fashion and clothing design, having expressed hopes to create her own clothing line and other business ventures.

Early in her career, Amber Lee Ettinger was crowned Miss NYC in the 2003 Miss Hawaiian Tropic pageant, later augmenting that title with a nod as Miss Howard TV in June 2007. It was her appearance on Howard TV that brought her to the attention of Leah Kaufman and Ben Relles, who then contacted her about appearing in "I Got a Crush... on Obama." Ettinger has also appeared in a video for The Onion News Network, as well as the music video for the John Popper Project song "Lapdance." Amber Lee appeared in a new video called "Hillary! Stop the attacks! Love, Obama Girl" released on March 25th, 2008.

Notably, Amber Lee Ettinger did not actually vote in her home state primary, New Jersey, despite being in neighboring New York at the time.

Then, on May 7, 2008, Barely Political posted a YouTube video with Obama Girl and former Democratic and Libertarian Party presidential candidate, Mike Gravel, entitled "Mike Gravel Lobbies for the Obama Girl Vote." In the video, Gravel tries to persuade Obama Girl to switch her support from Obama to him. Her response near the end of the video is, "I'll think about it". Amber Lee also has been cast in a commercial for Certain Dri antiperspirant products.
